Introduction

The states of Safelster are all highly urbanised, and Sentanos is no exception. Its two great cities of Syran and Tortun are the main focus of government, trade, culture and religion, and the driving force behind the rural economy. More than more one-tenth of the population make a permanent home within (or within sight of) their walls, many more have regular business there.

This keyword is principally concerned with the natives of Syran, although it may also encompass folk of rural origin, or from the other cities of Safelster, who have come to seek their fortune in the city.

Magic

Syran is overwhelmingly Malkioni, and communal (or better) membership of a church is almost universal. The city's indigenous churches are descended from the many and fragmented Stygian sects that have survived from the time of the Autarchy, and all revere Arkat as a prophet and a saint. A few foreign churches are also present, but these play a very minor role in the religious life of the city.

Most citizens belong to one of the local Stygian churches, which are collectively known as the Ecumenical Communion of Sentanos. Many incorporate shrines to the so-called Lords Temporal and provide some worshippers with Common Magic. Specialised magic is taught to devoted adherents by the various Orders and Schools.

Common Magic is also available from many other sources, including:
